How will we move around the city in 2040 – on foot, by bike, by bus and train, or by car?
The goals of the Salzburg Mobility Plan 2040 are set. Now comes the crucial question: HOW will Salzburg achieve these goals?
The City of Salzburg invites YOU to think ahead and help shape the future: What concrete, implementable ideas do you have to help Salzburg reach its mobility goals?
Whether you walk every day, commute by bike, rely on public transport, or travel by motorized vehicle – your perspective matters.

You can submit your idea in one of nine thematic fields.
These are based on the goals of the Mobility Plan 2040 and cover the key areas of mobility in Salzburg.
If you are unsure which thematic field fits best, simply choose the one that comes closest to your idea. We will support you with the classification – further information can be found in the FAQs (German only) and Terms & Conditions.
How can we make walking in Salzburg more pleasant and safer?
We are looking for ideas for attractive, accessible sidewalks, safer street crossings, and more inviting places to pause and spend time. Proposals for improving and redesigning public spaces are also welcome – so that everyone enjoys getting around on foot.
How can cycling in our city become even more attractive?
We are looking for ideas for safe cycling infrastructure, improved bike parking, bike-friendly streets, and new services such as sharing systems or cargo bikes – for all ages.
How can buses, trains, and other public transport services be improved?
We welcome ideas for more frequent services, new routes, comfortable stops, or better digital information for passengers – making public transport easier and more pleasant to use.
How can everyone who depends on a car get around Salzburg smoothly and without congestion?
Space on our streets is limited. To ensure that those who rely on cars can travel efficiently, overall car traffic needs to be reduced. We are looking for ideas on how to achieve this – for example through smart traffic management, better parking solutions, car-sharing models, or new concepts for street design.
How can we inspire people to embrace sustainable mobility?
We are looking for creative initiatives, educational projects, or campaigns that show how well environmentally friendly travel works – and how much fun it can be.
How can Salzburg remain accessible for everyone – regardless of age?
We are looking for ideas for safe routes to school, barrier-free access, age-appropriate services, and mobility solutions that leave no one behind.
How can we transition to climate-friendly mobility?
We welcome proposals related to electric or hydrogen propulsion, expanding charging infrastructure, or converting vehicle fleets – helping Salzburg move toward cleaner transport.
How can deliveries reach the city in an environmentally friendly way?
We are looking for ideas for sustainable urban logistics – for example through cargo bikes, micro-depots, or parcel lockers – that help reduce traffic and emissions.
How can travel for visitors become more environmentally friendly while reducing pressure on the city?
We are looking for ideas on how tourists can arrive and depart in a climate-friendly way, move sustainably within the city, and help reduce traffic congestion – for example through park-and-ride solutions, sharing services, smart visitor management systems, or attractive combined ticket offers.
